Why I Joined:

I was looking for an opportunity where I could grow my technical and professional skills. I knew Xpanxion was a place where I would not only fit in from a cultural standpoint, but also thrive in the software & IT consulting industry.

Why I Stay:

While my hard work and self-improvement has been recognized and rewarded, I can say a big part of why I stay is the company culture. The teams I have been lucky enough to be a part of share my “team first approach” outlook.

My Proudest Moment:

After starting with Xpanxion as a Sr. QA analyst, I was always interested in getting back into business analysis work.  I started a project for our Parent Company (UST) in March of 2017 as a QA resource. After about three months my team had successfully built, tested, and launched our section of the tool that was being developed. However, other teams were still struggling. Xpanxion requested that I move into a business analyst role to assist the Product Owner (PO) with requirements and project management. The Product Owner worked with three business analysts in the past six months, but none of them could meet his expectations. Over the next two years, I built a great relationship with the PO, learned the tool, and continued to help different teams with requirements and understanding of the PO’s vision.

My Biggest Lesson:

I’ve learned so many lessons over the years, it’s hard to narrow it down to just one. That said, I always go back to this lesson: progress isn’t linear. There are going to be days when you feel you have conquered a project or skill and the next day it all goes downhill. I’ve learned to accept that there will always be days like this, but that shouldn't stop us from staying focused on our goals and putting in the effort to make progress every single day.

Life Outside of Xpanxion:

My favorite ritual is getting coffee and donuts with my wife (Melanie) on Sundays. We got married in 2014 and we're still on our honeymoon. We have one cat (Roxy) and one dog (Winnee). I enjoy going to the gym every morning because I know I’m a better person when the physical stress put on my body is greater than the mental stress any environment can place on me. I also love spending time with my extended family and playing with our nieces and nephews.

My Secret Weapon:

Authenticity. I love building relationships with clients and finding ways to make them successful. I learned a long time ago, if you’re not having fun it’s probably not worth doing. So I like to find ways to have fun with my team(s) and clients because it certainly beats the alternative.
