Olwyn Deputron
Step IT Up Practice Lead
As Step IT Up Practice Lead, Olwyn has more than eight years of experience helping businesses fill their talent gaps while improving diversity, inclusion, and equality (DI&E). She accomplishes this through the management, planning, and oversight of the Step IT Up Program, a STEM initiative by Xpanxion and UST Global that aims to solve the nation’s technology shortages and diversify workforces by training and placing women, veterans, and minorities in technology jobs.
Olwyn joined Xpanxion in November 2016 with a breadth of experience in business development and marketing. She was a Program Manager, Business Development at IT services company eClerx, responsible for cross-selling and up-selling to Fortune 1000 and Top 250 Internet Retailers. At SDL, a web content management company, she was a Business Development Manager, responsible for inside sales.

As Business & Lead Development Manager at Tangoe, a provider of telecom expense management solutions, Olwyn continually grew the sales pipeline to meet quarterly revenue goals. She was also the Marketing Officer at Jamaica Trade & Investment (JAMPRO), responsible for promoting Jamaica to drive business from the U.S. Earlier in her career, Olwyn was a Marketing Coordinator for software provider Mobius Management Systems and an Office Assistant at Texas Tech University, Office of Quality Service.
Olwyn earned a master’s degree in Marketing, International Business from Texas Tech University - Rawls College of Business, Lubbock, TX, and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Queens College (Queens, NY).

Why I Joined:
I liked the values the organization holds and wanted to be a part of this company that was making a difference for their customers and employees. I love my job but I am rewarded even more by the difference I make in helping someone change their life through the Step IT Up Program.

Closing an account I was pursuing for three years. Gentle persistence pays off
My Biggest Lesson:
There are no shortcuts in life. Take as long as you need, enjoy the journey, and learn from your mistakes.
Life Outside of Xpanxion:
My natural gift is being a hostess. My time outside of work is consumed with my family and friends, cooking, building relationships, learning about different cultures, and traveling.
